Our Lil Sharks program was established in 2000! This program is designed to introduce young children (aged 4-7) to non-violent martial arts from the ground up! Students are introduced to basic Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu positions and strategies. These skills are taught in a fun interactive setting enabling young children to develop endurance, coordination, teamwork, and self defense skills. Give your child the skills required to combat bullying and other aggressive situations without the use of kicks and punches.
WOMEN'S ONLY CLASSES
Women's classes are offered Tuesday & Thursday evenings from 7-8:30pm. Come to try, train, and experience BJJ while building a more street-smart stronger female community. These classes are taught by WBJJ senior female students. .
BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a martial art that focuses on grapping and ground fighting. BJJ is founded on the principle that a smaller, weaker person can defend themselves against a bigger, stronger individual. This is possible by using the BJJ fundamentals: technique, timing, and leverage. BJJ is a dynamic and realistic art that is both useful in self-defense and as a competitive sport. Every technique learned is tried and tested repeatedly during the live rolling that is incorporated in every class.
This program is designed for kids aged 8-15! In these kids classes we promote increased self confidence, leadership skills as well as self defense. for many WBJJ kids these classes are a continuation of the skills they attained in the Lil Sharks program. We build on the foundations of BJJ by introducing more advanced concepts such as guard passes, control positions, sweeps, and submissions.
Children can start training at anytime, they do not need to complete the Lil Sharks program prior to attending our kids program. Every new student is given the basic skills required to succeed and progress.
For many children self confidence does not come naturally. Rather, it is developed over time with each accomplished goal. In our classes we see children gain self esteem, improve strength, increase flexibility, and gain overall healthier habits regarding weight and fitness.
In the past WBJJ has had a Kids Competition Team and they won the most awards in the Elite Federation Of Grapplers Tournament Circuit in 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012. Many of our kids still enjoy competing and do very well on the circuit.
WBJJ offers day classes! Stay consistent with your BJJ training by attending day and evening classes. This allows your training to be flexible enough for any schedule. Day classes are taught by Black Belt Instructor Ron Dupuis on Monday, Wednesday, & Friday mornings 10am - noon.
