Whether you want to train to compete in martial arts, acquire tools that will assist you in self-defence, get in shape or just have a good time, this is the place for you, our workouts have a purpose!  We pride ourselves in having a group of students who are here to work together and help each other learn the techniques of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, all under the supervision of qualified instructors. (All classes are taught by BJJ Advanced Rank Instructors.)

We will guide you through Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu basic drills, escapes and strategies.

Our curriculum is designed to help students at all levels achieve the maximum results out of their time and effort.  There is no requirement to have any previous martial arts training and you are never too old to start!  Male and female students ages 15 and up are welcome in this co-ed program.

Classes begin with a cardio warm-up and yoga stretching period, followed by technical lessons, drills and live grappling for more advanced students.  We focus on ensuring proper positioning and breathing while learning various submissions, escapes and strategies.  Adults work together in pairs in order to practice their skills.  Safety is always our primary concern! You will gain an understanding of how your body is supposed to move and react, your skills will begin to accumulate as you become more proficient. If your looking for more of a challenge you can join the Windsor BJJ / JJ Machado Competition Team.

Are you skilled in the striking arts or wrestling?

We welcome you to experience the grappling arts to upgrade your resume and earn an accredited rank in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.  We offer to complement your training with the ground fighting arts. Most striking martial arts claim that their style will enable a student to defeat a larger stronger opponent; this is not true, when the fight hits the ground kicks and punches are no longer effective and a stronger person will prevail. BJJ takes over where other styles end.  Leave your ego at the door and take your skills to the next level.

 

Why is an accredited rank important?

Many schools are now offering various Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu / Mixed Martial Arts programs being taught by non-accredited instructors. 

Students of these programs do not qualify to earn official ranking and may have to start over to ensure they have the proper foundation and a complete understanding of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu principles. 

The Windsor Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy is an officially recognized and accredited academy under Professor Jean Jacques Machado. Students registered with the Jean Jacques Machado Association qualify for "Official Ranking".

Your time and dedication at Windsor Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu will be recognized by earning your Official Rank in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. You will be able to advance with formal technical training and use your knowledge and skill to continue towards the ultimate goal of a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt!
